Help our SOAR Tutors with supplies!

SOAR Supply Drive

SOAR, a Chatham Education Foundation literacy tutoring program, is collecting supplies March 23rd – April 23rd to help students achieve reading success in local elementary schools.

Students Obtaining Achievements in Reading or SOAR is a program CEF has developed to help students that need additional reading assistance. Partnering with Augustine Literacy Project of Chapel Hill, volunteers have been trained to work one-on-one with 1st and 2nd grade students at North Chatham Elementary and Virginia Cross Elementary Schools who are not meeting literacy benchmarks. Twice a week, volunteers work with students using multi-sensory techniques, games and tools to build literacy skills.

“From pencils and index cards to water and trail mix, these supplies will help our hour together be impactful,” says Program Manager, Regina Johnson. Requested supplies are listed below and may be dropped off at collection sites across Chatham county. Monetary donations may be made via the website – chathameducationfoundation.org. Please note that the donation is for SOAR.
