Donate Children’s Books

All year round, we accept gifts of new and gently used children’s books. These books are sorted and organized by trained volunteers – and thoughtfully redistributed to children all across Chatham County who are growing their reading skills. We partner with our local food pantry, health department, and numerous other organizations through our Chatham Reads program to give these books away to Chatham’s kids for free. We know that having a variety of high-interest books at home supports long-term outcomes in literacy. 

We accept new and used books, in good condition, for kids from babies through high school, with an emphasis on elementary-age readers. If you have questions about donating books or a particularly large donation, please contact Heather Bochicco at heather@cefmail.org.
