AVID, an acronym for Advancement Via Individual Determination, is a nationally recognized nonprofit college readiness system with the mission to close the achievement gap by preparing all students for college or career success in a global society. For over 18 years Chatham County Schools students have participated in AVID programs and Chatham Education Foundation has provided support for those programs for over a decade. Chatham now has 13 AVID sites that impact students in grades K-12 with the expansion to all of our K-8, middle and one elementary school. In 2025, 100% of our AVID seniors were accepted into over 580 colleges and universities and received over $24M in scholarship offers and financial aid.
