Ensuring every student has access to what they need to succeed.

Opportunity

Opportunity means a child’s future is not determined by their ZIP code, family income, first language, or life circumstances. We work to remove barriers and expand access to the programs, resources, and experiences that help students succeed in school and beyond. When opportunities are equitably distributed, students can focus on learning, growing, and pursuing their goals—knowing someone believes in their potential.

Programs that expand Opportunity include:

  • Emergency and student support funds that address immediate needs impacting learning

  • Book and literacy access initiatives, ensuring students have books at home and school

  • First-generation college support, helping students and families navigate pathways to higher education through AVID and ACT test prep

  • Targeted investments in under-resourced schools to close opportunity gaps

“AVID has taught me to take opportunities and take advantage of them. I am in many programs such as Upward Bound, Orgullo Latinx Pride, UNC Business Academy, HOSA, Beta Club, and volunteering in CORA Food Pantry.”
